Latvian Ministry of Foreigh Affairs together with the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO has created and regullarly updates a list of event devoted or developed in order to commemorate and celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Baltic Way and its inscription upon the UNESCO Memory of the World International Register.

The Festival “SOLIS” takes place once every two years in Riga and has become a tradition for persons with intellectual disabilities. The main objective of the festival is to contribute to the children, teenagers and adults amateur art activities quality.

Jul.14.2006 | Special issue on World Heritage sites in the Baltic region has been published

Special issue on World Heritage sites in the Baltic region, at the occasion of the 30th session of the World Heritage Committee held from July 8-16 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The special issue concerns the Word Heritage’s sites in Baltic States. The magazine is published in three languages: English, French and Spanish, which gives a great opportunity to the Baltic States to represent themselves on the international scene among culture heritages specialists. |
Jul.12.2006 | Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre will be visiting Latvia
Director of the UNESCO Worlds heritage Centre Mr. Francesco Bandarin will be visiting Latvia on July 17th and 18th. On Monday Mr. Bandarin will visit the Rundāle Palace and in the evening have a dinner with the Minister of Culture, Latvian Ambassador to France, Secretary-General of Latvian National Commision for UNESCO.
On Tuesday Mr. Bandarin together with architect Mr. Blūms will have a guided tour to the Historic Centre of Riga, afterwards he will have a meeting at the Ministry of Culture and in the afternoon Mr. Bandarin will take part in a discussion on the "Position of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre in the preservation and development of town historical centres" at the Latvian Architect's Union.

Drama collective of Daugavpils State gymnasium ‘’Spēlmanīši’’ together with a folklore group of Vieniba Primary School ‘’Dzīsmeita’’ visited Slovakia this summer in order to make known Latvian traditions to the local inhabitants and guests of the country through the two performances that imitated Ligo midsummer night festivities.
